Kate Hill Has a New Vampire Romance -

Romance author Kate Hill is here today to share her writing life and introduce us to her new vampire romance novella.

Welcome, Kate Hill,

Why did you become a writer?

I always loved books and how they made me feel. I loved telling the stories I wanted to read. For me, the reason why I became a writer was a love of books.

Is writing something that comes easy to you or not?

Coming up with ideas for stories comes very easy for me. Once I start a story, it also flows pretty easily. Sometimes getting myself to sit down and start can be challenging, though! To keep myself on track, I like to have a daily word count.

What do you do when you are not writing?

I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, and I also have lots of hobbies. I love reading, journaling, watching horror movies, and exercising. I also run a blog called Compelling Beasts, and on it I try to recommend a horror movie every week. Sometimes I slack off, but basically I try to keep up with it. I watch a lot of horror movies and love recommending the ones I’ve enjoyed.

Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?

The biggest challenge for me was finding a publisher. I gathered rejection slips for about ten years before finally getting an acceptance. I worked with several ebook publishers over the years and had mostly good experiences. More recently, I’ve gone indie and I love the freedom that comes with it.

How did you come up with the title?

Shauna’s Silver Swordsmith is part of the Silver Hearts series. The books all have older heroes with younger heroines. I wanted every title to have the word silver in it (all the guys have some silver in their hair) and the heroine’s name.
