Meet Romance Author Kim Janine Ligon
Today fellow Wild Rose Kim Ligon is here to tell us about herself, her new book, and give some advice to writers.
Welcome Kim…
What do you do when you are not writing?
All the things I didn’t have time to do before I retired from my first career. I’m a voracious reader. I create buildings for my husband’s model railroad. I taught myself to spin fiber into yarn that I weave with, crochet, and knit. I enjoy lunch with friends and doing crossword puzzles with my husband in a mini competition.
What was the most interesting place you ever visited?
The War Cabinet underground in London that was where Churchill led the British during world war two. They have a blitz simulation that will make you shiver. What they had to deal with during that time was amazing, frightening.
Can you tell us about any other upcoming books, series, or writing plans?
My Third book with The Wild Rose Press is currently in edits. The title is Those Ties That Bind. It is another Romantic Suspense novel set in fictional Lansdale, Wisconsin as my first two are. It is a rated G Romance between an older woman and younger man. I’ve also started a Victorian period Romance to submit for the Christmas in the Castle series. I’m excited about doing something a little different. Several other untitled works are in the mix for later.
What would one of your characters say about your writing/book?
My characters would say they are glad that I have the good sense to listen to them when they insist on barging Into my dreams with demands for changes to the book, their dialog and in one case, their name.
How did you come up with the title?
My sweet husband of forty-eight years has diligently read my stories, and he is responsible for naming all three of them as well.
Writing tip or advice for other authors?
I know this is number six but persistence is the most important gift a writer can have. And do your homework! I strongly recommend Sandra Gerth’s Show, Don’t Tell. It’s a quick but valuable read with exercises to complete so it sinks in. Do the exercises. You’ll be surprised how much this little gem improves your writing.
